Western Districts made it two-from-two to start the Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) season after defeating Wisanger by 87 points at Gosse yesterday. The Saints led by 49 points at halftime, before kicking a further nine goals to three in the second half to win 19.19 (133) to 6.10 (46). Skipper Lleyton Hedges kicked seven goals for the Saints and he was well supported by Cameron Florance who kicked six majors. Ryan Turner (2) was the only multiple goalkicker for the Panthers. Best players for Western Districts were Sam Jonas, Wade Tucker, Joshua Graham, Cameron Florance and Thomas Jonas. Wisanger were best served by Liam Sampson, Brok Viney-Obst, Jason Fryar, Darcy Kildea and Samuel Clifford.
Reigning premier Kingscote are on the board in 2024 after a comprehensive 98-point win at home against Parndana. Kingscote led at every change before running out winners 19.10 (124) to 4.2 (26). Lachie Ingerson (4) and Tyson Holman (3) were the leading goalkickers for Kingscote, while Daniel Dunstan kicked two goals for Parndana. Best for Parndana included Zach Trethewey, Isaac Trethewey and Eli Kuchel.
