Christies Beach consolidated their spot in the top-five with a thrilling three-point win against fellow finals aspirant Happy Valley during round 15 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Bice Oval yesterday. ‘Christies’ came from 17 points down at halftime to eventually run out winners 9.7 (61) to 8.10 (58). Saints skipper Michael Mazey was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals. Mackenzie Nield continued his good season for Christies Beach to be named their best player and he was well supported by Mazey, Bradley Truscott, Joshua Semmens, Clayton Wise and Shaun King. Best for the Vikings included Harry Vick, Nicholas Frisby-Smith, Lachlan Hamilton, Sebastian Oliver, Sam Flett and Joel Beeche.
Aldinga won their third game of the season after defeating Morphett Vale by 10 points in a high scoring encounter at Morphett Vale yesterday. Aldinga led at every change as they triumphed 14.17 (101) to 13.13 (91). Sam Bentley, Jack Langdon and Jayden Scott all kicked three goals for the Sharks, while Dylan Williams was a standout for the Emus with nine majors. Ryan Parry, Luke Watson, Bentley, Langdon, Brayden Hooper and Tom Pilmore were named best for Aldinga, while joining Williams in the best for the Emus were Khori Mills-Richardson, Blake Carter, Aiden Baker, Connor Gilby and Tyson Amey.
Port Noarlunga wrapped up the double chance after hanging on to defeat Noarlunga by two points at Old Noarlunga. ‘Porties’ led by 32 points at halftime, however the margin had been reduced to just 12 points at the last change. Eventually, the Cockle Divers won 10.16 (76) to 11.8 (74). Zac Sproule (4) and Zeb Sinclair (2) were the leading goalkickers for Port Noarlunga, while Tom Anderson (3) and Callum Gaspari (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Shoes. Best players for the Cockle Divers included Jonathan Cook, Joshua Johns, Nathan Hedger, Nathaniel Paredes, Eduard Van den berg and Sproule. Noarlunga was best served by Gaspari, Josh Beard, Anderson, Luke Ross, Zachary Williams and Nathanael Dudley.
Reynella are a step closer to wrapping up the minor premiership after a crushing 150-point win against Cove yesterday. The Wine Flies led by a whopping 113 points at halftime, before winning 31.13 (199) to 7.7 (49). Reynella had 12 different goalkickers with Bailey Marshman (7), Callan Semple (7) and Marc Borholm (5) leading the way. Jayj Butler-Chaseling kicked two goals for the Cobras. Best players for Reynella were Cameron Kirkland, Sam Whitbread, Lachlan McGuinness, Marshman, Mitchell Scotland and Semple. Chris Buersch, Rhys Mutch, Lucas Hill, Sam Kendall and Alex Marra were named best for Cove.
Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill won their second game on the trot after defeating Ironbank Cherry Gardens by 158 points. ‘Flaggies’ led by 69 points at halftime, before kicking a further 14 unanswered goals in the second half to win 26.12 (168) to 1.4 (10). The Falcons had 10 different goalkickers with Sam Smith (6), Blake Aldridge (5), Brad Patterson (3) and Michael Shearer (3) leading the way. Aldridge, Patterson, Reece Milsom, Smith, Ethan Wildman and Ryan Mountford were named best for Flagstaff Hill, while best for the Thunderers included Ben Marsh, Tyler Quinn, Alec Bryars, Levi Grigg, Isaac Hoepfl and Jayden Rea.
