Saints women move into finals contention in the Southern Football League

Christies Beach moved into fourth spot on the ladder following their 44-point win at Aldinga during round 11 action in the Southern Football League Women’s ‘A’ grade competition on Sunday. Aldinga led by two points at quarter time, but from then on it was all ‘Christies’ as they kicked seven goals to none in the final three quarters to win 9.5 (59) to 2.3 (15). Emily Risitano was a star up forward for the Saints with five goals, while Elena Earl and Dakota Oniszk kicked Aldinga's goals. Best players for the Saints were Makailah Gort, Neriah Milis, Melanie Koster, Risitano, Rachael Farlam and Isabella Zito. Aldinga were best served by Oniszk, Amber O’Hanlon, Darlene Bishop, Jemma Looyestyn and Ayla Regione.


Reigning premier Flagstaff Hill won their ninth game of the season with a comfortable 75-point victory against Cove last Friday night. The Falcons led at every change before winning 12.11 (83) to 1.2 (8). Carli Morton kicked four goals for ‘Flaggies’, while Kate Galley kicked the only goal for the Cobras. Falcons skipper Tamsyn Morriss was named best for her side and she was well supported by Czenya Cavouras, Nicole O’Connor, Bethany Bell, Alana Baker and Elise Winton. Best for Cove were Ella Gill, Jasmine Dietrich, Ashleigh Need, Dana O’Brien, Edith Kosztovits and Cally Swalue. 


Reynella remained undefeated after a massive 222-point win against Hackham. The Wine Flies kicked 10 goals in the first term, eight goals in second, 10 goals in the third and a further five goals in the last quarter to win 33.24 (222) to 0.0 (0). 14 Wine Flies players hit the scoreboard with Georgia Scholes (6) and Allana Nimmo-Lyne (5) the leading goalkickers. Claire Varnham-Harrison was best-on-ground for the Wine Flies with other good players being Caitlin Walter, Catherine Quinn, Dominique Byrne and Cassandra Newbery. It was a tough day for the Hawks with Kaylah Richards, Rhylee McCall, Caitlin Haire, Ashleigh Dayman and Jessica Sherry named as their best players. 


Port Noarlunga had the bye.
