A significant crowd gathered at the Encounter Bay Football Club in Victor Harbor for a crucial Cyber Safety Awareness presentation hosted by the Hills Fleurieu Local Crime Prevention Section and Cyber Crime Training and Prevention.
The event, which took place on Tuesday, 20 August, attracted 150 attendees, highlighting the community's keen interest in protecting themselves from online threats.
This free session offered valuable insights into the latest scam tactics and strategies to stay safe online. The event was also recorded by local radio station Happy FM, which plans to broadcast snippets of the presentation during Scams Week, running from August 26 to 30.
The theme for this year’s Scams Week, Share a story, stop a scam, aims to encourage the community to spread awareness and prevent others from falling victim to cybercrimes.
SAPOL says the strong turnout at the event underscores the growing concern around cyber safety in the region, with many residents eager to learn how to safeguard their personal information and protect themselves from potential scams.
