The 2021 Schoolies Festival is scheduled to go ahead in Victor Harbor from November 19-21.
Last year’s festival was cancelled due to a COVID-19 related snap lockdown.
Nigel Knowles, the Chief Executive Officer of Encounter Youth, told ABC Radio Adelaide this week that his organisation has been working with SA Health and others to get conditional approval to run the festival.
He said the conditional Covid Management Plan allowed for the management of up to 3500 people in the event space at any one time.
The number of people would be reviewed by SA Health three weeks before the event and could be subject to change.
Mr Knowles said he was comfortable with that number and that 3 500 students had already booked accommodation in the area.
Two fenced zones will be put in place with one at Warland Reserve and one at the Soldier’s Memorial Gardens allowing for adequate social distancing space.
Around 7000 students attended the 2019 festival.
Victor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins asked all students planned to come to schoolies to get vaccinated to help protect the local population.
Tickets for 2021 school leavers born in 2003 or 2004 cost $133.96 for the three-day event.
If the event is cancelled due to COVID-19 ticket holders will receive a full refund.
