Onkaparinga Libraries will mark National Science Week with a series of events and activities to celebrate the marine environment.
All week, Monday 17 to Sunday 23 August, you can explore marine environments through the power of virtual reality.
Register via Eventbrite and collect a free Google Cardboard Virtual Reality Headset from a library branch and follow the guide for some amazing marine adventures.
The virtual reality adventure activity is suitable for all ages and you will need a smart phone or an iPod to join in.
Tomorrow, Monday 17 August, join Techspace Learning online and investigate local water environments while also learning about Arduino and basic programming skills.
There are some basic mathematics and science principles used in this session, delivered via Zoom Webinar between 7pm and 8.30pm.
Register via Eventbrite and collect an Arduino Kit from an Onkaparinga Library. The activity is suitable for ages 10+.
On Tuesday 18 August South Australian author Brian Gillan will give a Zoom talk on 'Plastic is Tragic' between 12pm and 12.30pm.
He will introduce his book 'Who Can Save The Dolphins?' and discuss the impact of plastic on sea-life.
The session will end with a brainstorming session on what can be done to reduce plastic pollution. It is suitable for upper primary and secondary students as the content may be confronting.

Another plastic-themed session aimed at younger children will take place on Thursday 20 August between 10am and 10.30am.
Kids can enjoy two fun-filled activities that will explore water density and the impact of plastic pollution, learning what they can do about it.
