Searching for next year’s MasterChef

South Australia has punched above its weight over the 12 seasons of the Australian MasterChef competition to find the nation’s top home cooks.

Season two winner Adam Liaw, Callum Hann, Poh Ling Yeow and McLaren Vale’s own Laura Sharrad are just a few of the SA contestants who have since kicked off successful careers in cookery.

The current season saw only two from this state in the top 24, with Aaron Sanders currently still in the running to make the top ten.

Applications have now opened for the next season of MasterChef, to screen in 2022.

Producers are seeking people of all backgrounds and from locations right around Australia.

If you have a passion for food and have always dreamed of cooking in the MasterChef kitchen, now is the chance to audition and make your food dreams come true.

Take the food of the Fleurieu to Melbourne, where MasterChef Australia is filmed, and perhaps to the world.

Since it started in 2009 the program has increased its focus on seasonality and sustainability.

Leftover food gets collected by the charity SecondBite and is delivered to people in need.

Any food waste that cannot be reused or collected by SecondBite, is turned into compost for the MasterChef garden.
