City of Onkaparinga is assessing a development application for an X Convenience store and fuel outlet on Main Road McLaren Vale.

The site is at 173 Main Road, just past the intersection with Valley View Drive, which currently houses a mower repair business and trade service centre.

It would operate between the hours of 5am to midnight, seven days per week. 

Construction of two 110,000 litre underground fuel storage tanks requires referral to the Environment Protection Authority as part of the assessment process.

Two significant trees at the rear of the property would need to be removed to accommodate the development. 

The public can make submissions on the proposed development by visiting the Plan SA website.

Closing date for submissions is Tuesday 19 March.
