SECOND VALLEY GRASS FIRE

CFS crews are currently on scene at a grass fire at Second Valley, approximately 8km east of Rapid Bay in the Southern Fleurieu Peninsula.

Approximately 40 CFS and Forestry SA firefighters on 8 trucks are working to strengthen containment lines.

The fire is burning in pine slash and grass. Thanks to the efforts of ground and air crews yesterday, the fire has been prevented from spreading into a nearby pine plantation.

Roads in the area remain open at this time, however conditions may change at short notice. For information on road closures, visit traffic.sa.gov.au.

There will be smoke visible throughout the day, and crews will remain on scene monitoring the fire.

The cause of the fire has been determined as a rekindle of a previous burn-off.
