What's he building in there? Is a free art exhibition on show at Goolwa’s South Coast Regional Arts Centre from Thursday 21 January to 21 February.
James Parker and John Whitney unravel the ancient mysteries of the suburban shed and garage.
“Many houses today are built with the garage being a prominent feature to the street,“ James says.
“In very nearly every instance this makes the house seem as though it has fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.
“Along our once interesting streets we now see large double doors of beige, greige, charcoal or lighthouse white rectangles that make ticky-tacky look like high architecture, and to garnish the effect the double garages are empty, the cars are on the streets, what are they building in there?
This is the real interest in garages (and sheds) for John and myself - is what is actually stored in them.
“Some are slick, some are run down some over grown and some over engineered; does the state of the exterior reflect what is inside?”
South Coast Regional Arts Centre is at 1 Goolwa Terrace. Gallery hours are Wednesday to Sunday 10am-4pm.
