The operators of Berg Herring Wines have applied to vary an existing development application so they can continue to operate their Cellar Door at Lot 21 Sellicks Beach Road at Sellicks Beach.

The application also asks for patron numbers allowed on the site to be increased from 20 to 100 and for onsite food trucks and music to be allowed to operate.

The converted sandstone church, built in 1862, has been operating as a cellar door since last December. It overlooks beautiful Sellicks Beach with outside areas and showcases the boutique brand’s McLaren Vale Wines.

It was voted Best Small Cellar Door in McLaren Vale in the 2021 Best Cellar Door Awards.

It currently opens from 12pm to 6pm from Friday to Monday and offers tastings at $10 per person.

Berg Herring Wines is operated by Sam Dunlevy and Chloe Fitzgerald

The application is currently under assessment by the City of Onkaparinga.

Locals and other interested parties have until October 20 to submit representations to support, oppose or raise concerns about the application.

To view the plans and make a submission visit the plan.sa.gov.au website.

More information is also available from the City of Onkaparinga on 8384 0666.
