Police are investigating a serious crash at Middleton.

Just before 3.30pm on Monday 19 December a car left the road and collided with a tree near the intersection of Michelmore Road and Airport Road, Middleton.

Emergency services rushed to the scene.

The driver, a 40-year-old Fleurieu man, was airlifted to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious injuries.  His condition is considered life-threatening.

A 7-year-old boy in the vehicle escaped injury.

Road closures will remain in place for several hours while Major Crash officers examine the scene.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible this evening.
