Severe Thunderstorm warning.  Large Hail possible for Hills and Onkaparinga areas.

The Bureau of Meterology has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Adelaide Region, including the Onkaparinga and Adelaide Hills area.

 

The warning says severe thunderstorms with large hail are approaching the Adelaide area.

 

Issued at 9:14 am Thursday, 28 October 2021.

Weather Situation: Thunderstorms associated with a complex low pressure system are moving across parts of SA.


The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 9:05 am, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Ardrossan and Curramulka. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Adelaide City, Elizabeth, Glenelg, Noarlunga, Salisbury, Gawler and Nuriootpa by 10:05 am.


Large hailstones and damaging winds are likely.


The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Move cars under cover or away from trees.

* Keep clear of fallen power lines.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while storms are nearby.


The next warning is due to be issued by 10:15 am.


A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Kangaroo Island and parts of the West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Mid North, Murraylands, Upper South East and North East Pastoral districts.
