Severe Weather Warning

The Beaureau of Meteorology has issued a damaging winds weather warning for part of the Fleurieu Peninsula tonight and into Sunday.

A warning to sheep graziers has also been issued.

Weather Situation: A series of troughs associated with a slow-moving, deep low pressure system to the south of the state will move across the central coasts this evening, leading to gusty west to northwesterly conditions across the Mount Lofty Ranges.

Strong to DAMAGING WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 90 km/h are possible over the Mount Lofty Ranges and adjacent areas to the east, particularly with shower activity.

DAMAGING WIND GUSTS are expected to ease below warning thresholds during Sunday afternoon.

Recent rainfall has led to saturated soil, so trees may be more susceptible to strong and gusty winds.

Locations which may be affected include Mount Barker, Murray Bridge, Victor Harbor, Strathalbyn and Mannum.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

* Move vehicles under cover or away from trees;

* Secure or put away loose items around your property.

* Stay indoors, away from windows, while conditions are severe.

The bureau has also issued a warning to sheep graziers for the Mount Lofty Ranges and Kangaroo Island.

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and northwesterly winds are expected during tonight and Sunday. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 pm ACST Saturday.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
