If your garden is full of ripening fruit and vegetables and people are starting to cross the street to avoid you pressing your surplus produce on them, have you thought about using your local Grow Free cart?
The carts were the idea of Andrew Baker of Meadows and provide a place for gardeners to share their surplus fruit, vegetables, home-made produce and seedlings.
The goods are left on the cart for anyone to take and use.
The idea (which has now spread Australia wide) is to reduce waste and provide free, tasty and nutritious produce to the local community.
There are more than 20 carts on the Fleurieu with another located at the Kangaroo Island Community Centre on Telegraph Road in Kingscote.

Every cart will need a cart-steward (or group of stewards) to keep a regular eye on the cart, keep it clean and remove any ageing produce.
