A shared use cycling and walking path linking McLaren Vale and Tatachilla Lutheran College is planned by the City of Onkaparinga.

The state government has kicked in funding of $1M to provide an 800m link for families, riders, and walkers between Caffrey Street intersection in McLaren Vale and the entrance to Tatachilla Lutheran College on Tatachilla Road.

Mawson MP Leon Bignell says the path is the result of years of lobbying by students, parents, grandparents and the leaders of Tatachilla Lutheran College.

“Hop on line and have your say about this important local safety infrastructure.”

The shared use path will be off-road, starting at the Caffrey Street / Tatachilla Road intersection and extending west 100m before crossing to the southern side of Tatachilla Road.

It will then continue under the Victor Harbor Road overpass and end at the Tatachilla Lutheran College main entrance.

A location map, concept plan and FAQs can be found on the council’s YourSay website, where comments and questions can also be made.

The community is invited to share local knowledge and make suggestions to help inform the final designs of the shared use path. Consultation is open until Sunday 13 August.
