Member for Mayo Rebekah Sharkie says some of her election corflutes have been removed from their positions, as the election campaign continues.
In a tongue-in-cheek post to Facebook this week she said, “Hello super-fans! A few of my keener ‘supporters’ have been taking down corflutes along the South Coast – and, I can only assume, putting them up in their homes!”
“It can be risky business cutting down corflutes. And I don’t want anyone hurting themselves trying to take down those hard-to-reach signs. So, if you want a personally signed corflute, just swing by my office! (We also do Justice of the Peace services as well.”
The Centre Alliance MP was also the target of an attack pamphlet distributed by the Australian Christian Lobby to homes in the electorate.
Liberal candidate Alison Bluck was caught up in an embarrassing situation with her election material last week.
Ms Bluck sent out a letter to voters which said she was the manager of the Kangaroo Island Nature Trail, a position held by the similarly named Alison Buck.
She subsequently apologised for the mistake, saying an early draft of the letter had been the printers in error by Liberal headquarters.
The Federal election will be held on 21 May.
Candidates have until midday today (Thursday) to nominate and the declaration of candidates and ballot position draw will take place on Friday.
