Aldinga won their second match of the season after upsetting finals-bound Port Noarlunga by 11 points during round 12 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Aldinga on Saturday. The Sharks got off to a great start to lead by 25 points at halftime, before the Cockle Divers closed the gap to 11 points at the last change. Each team kicked one goal in the final term as Aldinga won 7.11 (53) to 5.12 (42). Jayden Scott was the only multiple goalkicker on the field with two goals for the Sharks. Best players for Aldinga included Scott O'Dea, Mitchell Jarrett, Luke Watson, Ryan Parry, Reece Johnstone and Harrison Jarman. Port Noarlunga was best served by Joshua Johns, Eduard Van den berg, Nathaniel Paredes, Tyler Hathaway, Zachary Sproule and Jonathan Cook.
Christies Beach won their fourth game on the trot after a comfortable 64-point victory against Ironbank Cherry Gardens. The win moves the Saints up to fourth spot on the SFL ladder. The win was set up by a dominant second quarter from ‘Christies’ as they kicked five unanswered goals to lead by 40 points at halftime. A further six goals to three in the second half saw the Saints get up 13.14 (92) to 4.4 (28). Brad Jackson (4), Harrison Butcher (3) and Rhys Mundy (2) were the leading goalkickers for Christies Beach, while Jayden Rea kicked two goals for the Thunderers. Harry Caught, Clayton Wise, Butcher, Mackenzie Nield, Jackson and Thomas Kirwan were named in the best players for Christies Beach. Best for Ironbank Cherry Gardens included Chase Wooley, Rea, Mitchell Davis, Zane Lewis, Isaac Hoepfl and Jacob Hoepfl.
Reynella and Happy Valley played out a thriller at Happy Valley on Saturday as the Wine Flies prevailed by just three points. The game was tight all day with Reynella coming out on top 6.11 (47) to 6.8 (44). Callan Semple kicked three goals for Reynella, while Harry Vick and Liam O’Connor kicked two goals each for the Vikings. Reynella were best served by Bailey Marshman, Sam Whitbread, Mitchell Scotland, Daniel Whitaker, Luke Cooper and Jack Ball, while Happy Valley’s best were Billy Wilson, Liam Hamilton, Max Gill, Ben Ryan, Jayden Little and Dylan Strickland.
Blake Carter kicked a goal from the boundary line to lift Morphett Vale to a thrilling one-point win against Cove at Morphett Vale on Saturday. Earlier, Cove appeared to have the game well in hand as they led by 21 points at the last change. The Emus then kicked 4.3 to 0.5 in the last term to win 8.11 (59) to 8.10 (58). Aiden Baker and Carter kicked three goals for Morphett Vale, while Ryan Need, James Farrugia and Jayden Morton kicked two goals each. Best players for Morphett Vale included Daniel Bode, Brian Gill, Carter, Michael Smith, Joel Handreck and Robert Schindler-Taylor. The Cobras’ best were Sam Kendall, Alex Marra, Adam Kleinig, Jayj Butler-Chaseling, Kyle Stoldt and Alex O’Shaughnessy.
Flagstaff Hill remained top of the ladder after a comfortable 53-point against Noarlunga at Old Noarlunga. The Falcons won every quarter on their way to a 12.8 (80) to 4.3 (27) victory. Aiden Grayson kicked four goals for ‘Flaggies’, while Vic Robertson kicked two majors for the Shoes. Best players for Flagstaff Hill included Zakaria Cavouras, Grayson, Brayden Heyward-Ferors, Reece Milsom, Ryan Mountford and D’Arcy Mitchell. The Shoes were best served by Josh Beard, Luke Ross, Jarrad Liebelt, Nick Mott, Jake Birch and Jake Anderson.
