Sharks circle in Southern Football League

Aldinga won their third game in a row following an upset 31-point win against Port Noarlunga during round ten action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Aldinga this afternoon. The Sharks got off to a good start to take a 21-point lead at quarter time. The margin was reduced to 14 points at halftime as Port Noarlunga kept the home side goalless in the second term. The Sharks steadied, kicking seven goals to four in the second half, to win 11.8 (74) to 6.7 (43). Tom Pilmore was the leading goalkicker on the field with three majors for Aldinga, while Gerard Dutton and Sam Roberts kicked two goals each for ‘Porties’. Aldinga’s best players included Luke Watson, Zach Young, Jack Langdon, Sam Bentley and Josiah Sheppard. Port Noarlunga was best served by Dutton, James Ledgard, Tom Dix, Michael Tedmanson and Jonah Dolman.


Noarlunga consolidated their spot in the top-three with a grinding 11-point win at Morphett Vale. The Shoes started well to lead by 24 points at quarter time as they kicked the only four goals of the term. It was tough going for the remainder of the game with just six goals kicked between the sides, before Noarlunga prevailed 6.6 (42) to 4.7 (31). Troy Johnson kicked two goals for the Shoes, while Dylan Williams also kicked two goals for the Emus. Best for Noarlunga included Nathan Schulz, Jaidan Kappler, Jake Anderson, Johnson and Vic Robertson. Braydan Hartwig, Robert Schindler-Taylor, Dylan Miller, Scott Carpenter and Michael Smith were amongst the best for Morphett Vale.


Flagstaff Hill won their ninth game on the trot after a comprehensive 81-point win against reigning premier Reynella. The Falcons put the game to bed early as they kicked seven goals to none in the first term to lead by 46 points at quarter time. A further nine goals to three after the first break saw ‘Flaggies’ win 16.10 (106) to 3.7 (25). Sam Burbridge kicked four goals for the Falcons, while Nathan Beenham and Sam Smith kicked three goals each. Callan Semple kicked two majors for the Wine Flies. Best players for the top-of-the-ladder Falcons were Kobe Cavouras, Sam Jacobs, Nick Bailey, Aidan Grayson and Josh Rosman. Reynella were best served by Talon Copley, Daniel Whittaker and Brad Thompson.


Happy Valley moved up to fourth spot on the SFL ladder after defeating Christies Beach by 42 points today. Christies Beach started well to lead by six points at quarter time, but after the break it was all the Vikings, as they kicked 11 goals to three to win 13.10 (88) to 6.10 (46). Liam Hamilton booted five goals in a best-on-ground performance for the Vikings and he was well supported by Hayden Kari, Joel Beeche, Jayden Little and Alistair Fleming. James Conlon and Shaun King kicked two goals each for ‘Christies’, while their best players were King, Matt Hodge, Tom Paparella, Nathan Sable and Josh de Roode.
