Shoes bank second win in the Southern Football League Women's competition

Noarlunga won their second game of the 2023 Southern Football League (SFL) ‘A’ Grade Women’s competition following a 34-point win at Hackham yesterday during round 8 action. The Shoes led by nine points at halftime, before kicking four goals to one in the second half to win 5.11 (41) to 1.1 (7). Sarah Noble kicked two goals for the Shoes, while Charmaine Mulloy was the Hawks’ goalkicker. Best players for Noarlunga included Elyshiah Forrest, Cherinah Adderton, Megan Weetra, Noble and Skye Wilson. Hackham was best served by Nevara Richards, Dakota Dwyer, Katelyn Wilson, Alisha MacFayden and Maddison Hay.


Christies Beach stayed top of the ladder following their convincing 132-point win over Aldinga. The Saints led by 34 points at quarter time, 69 points at halftime and 85 points at the last change, before winning 19.18 (132) to 0.0 (0). ‘Christies’ had eight different goalkickers including Cadence Bryowsky who slotted five majors. She was well supported by Chelsea Salvemini, Makenzie Bryowsky and Brooke O’Brien who all kicked three goals. Best players for the ladder-leading Saints were Isabella Zito, O’Brien, Salvemini, Brina Thompson-Fitzgerald and Makenzie Bryowsky. Aldinga’s best players were Ayla Regione, Paige Curtin, Mackenzie Jones, Olivia Cumming and Brook Fallon.


Reynella kept the pressure on for a top-two spot after comfortably accounting for reigning premier Flagstaff Hill to the tune of 70 points at Reynella yesterday. The Wine Flies led by 38 points at halftime, before kicking a further five goals in the second half to win 11.4 (70) to 0.1 (1). Georgia Scholes (3) and Shanique West (2) were the multiple goalkickers for the Wine Flies. Caitlin Walter, Emily Franklin, Indiana Barbour, Morgan Blackwell and Caitlin Williams were amongst the best players for Reynella. For Flagstaff Hill, Brooke Watson, Ebony Scanlan, Chloe Meyers, Emma Hodgson and Amber Cloughessy were their best.


Port Noarlunga won their seventh game of 2023 with a 22-point win against Cove Cobras at Hallett Cove yesterday. ‘Porties’ led at every change to record a 7.1 (43) to 3.3 (21) victory. Phillipa Worthley was the only multiple goalkicker on the ground with three majors. Dana O’Brien, Georgia Hayford and Jaime Norup were the goalkickers for the Cobras. Best players for Port Noarlunga included Eilish O’Hanlon, Jolie Malinowski, Brittany Pratt, Bree Chapman and Siobhan I’Dell. Best players for Cove were Lauren Kenny, O’Brien, Breanna Stoldt, Cally Swalue and Rachel Littlefield.
