Shoes warm up for finals with win over reigning premier in Southern Football League

Noarlunga won their 13th game of the season with a 40-point win over reigning premier Reynella during round 17 action in the Southern Football League (SFL) at Old Noarlunga on Saturday. The game was tight at halftime with Reynella holding sway by four points. The Shoes took over in the second half, kicking eight goals to one, to win 11.8 (74) to 5.4 (34). Nick Mott (3), Callum Gaspari (2) and Terry Kathopoulis (2) were the multiple goalkickers for Noarlunga, while their best players included Zac Williams, Jarrad Liebelt, Jake Anderson, Jamison Snelling and Sammual Miller. Best for Reynella were Dylan Roser, Jack Ball, Alex Lawley, Daniel Whitaker and Tyler Davies.


Flagstaff Hill continued their undefeated season with a comprehensive 126-point win against Port Noarlunga on Saturday. The game was as good as over at quarter time as ‘Flaggies’ held a 47-point lead. A further 14 goals to two from then on saw the Falcons win 21.20 (146) to 2.8 (20). Flagstaff Hill had plenty of avenues to goal with Sam Jacobs leading the way with seven goals (50 for the season). Sam Smith (5) and Ryan Mountford (4) were the other multiple goalkickers for the Falcons. Patrick Smith and Oliver Petrohilos were the goalkickers for ‘Porties’. Mitchell Johnson, Ben Burbridge, Jacobs, Brayden Heyward-Ferors, Smith and Josh Rosman were named best for the Falcons. Best for the Cockle Divers included Gary Karpany, Chris Black and Joshua Johns.


Aldinga finished their season in style with a tight four-point win over Christies Beach at Aldinga. The Sharks led at every change before winning 7.4 (46) to 5.12 (42). Brinley Lawrence and Travis Stone kicked two goals each for the Sharks, while James Pratt also kicked two goals for the Saints. Best players for the Sharks included Bailey Pilmore, Josiah Sheppard, Tom Pilmore, Jack Langdon and Brayden Hooper. Matt Hodge, James Conlon, Liam Chibnall, Austin Hogg and Brad Truscott were named best for Christies Beach.


In a high scoring thriller, Morphett Vale prevailed by five points over  a gutsy Cove Cobras outfit at Hallett Cove on Saturday. Scores were tight all day with the Emus holding a slender one-point margin at the final change. ‘Morphies’ kicked five goals to four in the final stanza to prevail 16.12 (108) to 16.7 (103). Blake Carter was a standout up forward for the Emus with a ‘bag’ of 10 goals, while Michael Galley and Ryan Need each kicked three goals for the Cobras. Robert Schindler-Taylor, Carter, Harry Clarkson, Scott Carpenter and Braydan Hartwig were named best for the Emus. Best for Cove included Lincoln Holder, Galley, Kyle Stoldt, Need and Oliver Moore.
