Fleurieu school students have once again been invited to meet the Mayors’ Short Story Challenge.
Last year saw a record 379 entries across the region and Alexandrina, Victor Harbor and Yankalilla councils hope to beat the record again in 2020.
The creative writing challenge is held annually during term two, for school aged children from reception to year 10 who are students across the three Fleurieu council areas.
Each council will judge four age groups; the winner from each section will receive a $50 book voucher, with the overall winner for each council receiving an additional $50 book voucher, both donated by the Friends of the Library.
Local schools organise entries, so any kids wanting to have a go should ask their teachers for more information.
Entries close 3 July and the winners will be announced at a presentation in September.
The challenge has been running since 2010 to promote literacy and creativity and to connect young people and their schools to their local library services.
The schools and home school information pack on the challenge is available online.
