The Royal Adelaide Show is done and dusted, which signals the start of the country show season.

Showbags, animals, arts and crafts, food and the fun fair can all be enjoyed in our own backyard, starting this weekend.

The Southern Agricultural Society will hold its 145th Port Elliot Show on Saturday and Sunday 11 and 12 September at the Cameron Street showgrounds.

The show is open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 4pm on Sunday; entry costs $15 for adults, $10 for students and $5 for children aged 6 to 16 years. Full program details on the show website. 

The Labour Day long weekend will, as usual, feature two local shows – in Yankalilla and Strathalbyn.

Yankalilla, Rapid Bay and Myponga Agricultural and Horticultural Society hosts proceeding at the Yankalilla Showgrounds on Saturday 4 October from 9am to 4pm.

Following the show will be a night event of live music, featuring The William Millard Band and Hamish & Grace, plus food and drink, from 6pm to 11pm. Tickets available online.

Strathalbyn Show will be held on the public holiday, this year Monday 6 October, from 9.30am to 4.30pm at the Coronation Road showgrounds. Details on the website.
