Dr Moira Jenkins has been provisionally declared re-elected as the City of Victor Harbor’s Mayor.
The Local Deputy Returning Officer made the provisional declaration for the City of Victor Harbor’s Mayoral election at 5pm on Saturday 12 November.
Moira Jenkins received 3,056 first preference votes, followed by Nick Hayles with 1,821 first preference votes and Peter Charles with 1,437 first preference votes.
The count for Area Councillor positions will continue in the coming days, and successful candidates will be announced as soon as possible.
Councillor Brayden Manning is streets ahead of the other 18 candidates for the nine councillor roles, with 1557 first preference votes.
Others to do well on first preferences include Stewart Burns with 650, Marilyn Henderson with 469, Michael Quinton with 440 and David Kemp with 423, but preferences will determine who is finally elected.
In Alexandrina Council Keith Parkes has been provisionally re-elected, with a narrow win over former councillor Bron Lewis.
There were four candidates for mayor: Mark Hurst won 314 first preference votes; Shaun Smith 2,588 ; Bron Lewis 3,360 and Keith Parkes 3,608.
After preferences were distributed Keith Parkes won the mayoralty with 4,222 votes ahead of Bron Lewis on 4,161.
In Alexandrina South ward Milli Livingston has done well with 735 first preference votes and Peter Oliver with 709.
With 13 candidates for three councillor positions it could take some time for preferences to determine the final result.
In Alexandrina North ward, where six candidates are vying for three positions, Sue Miller on 753, Craig Maidment on 720 and Christie Thornton on 615 lead on first preference votes.
No figures are yet available in the Alexandrina West .
On Kangaroo Island Mayor Michael Pengilly has comfortably retained his position with 1,346 first preference votes, compared with James Newcomer on 830.
The nine councillors elected from 11 candidates are: Sam Mumford, on 454 first preference votes; Jeannette Gellard 439; Shirley Pledge 168; Veronica Bates 159; Ken Liu 162; Pat Austin 163; Bob Teasdale 143; Gregory Miller 126; and Richard Cotterill 105.
Counting continues in the 7-way race for mayor of the City of Onkaparinga.
District Council of Yankalilla will elect a new mayor from among its nine councillors at the first meeting of the new council on 15 November.
In Field Ward Darryl Houston was elected first with 325 votes, followed by Lawrence Polomka with 201, David Olsson with 178 and former mayor Simon Rothwell with 130.
Counting continues in Light Ward, where there were 10 candidates for the five councillor positions. Davina Quirke, Bill Verwey and Glen Rowlands are leading the vote on first preferences.
Unsuccessful candidates may request a recount within 72 hours of the provisional declaration. The Electoral Commission of South Australia decides if a recount is required, and can also initiate a recount within the same period.
