Slamming good poetry at Goolwa

Aspiring performance poets should perfect their pronunciation as it's time for the seventh annual Goolwa Poetry Cup.

Everyone is invited to take part or to just to listen on Sunday 17 November at the Fleurieu Distillery on the wharf in Goolwa.

Registration for performers costs $10 and is available at the venue from 11.30am.

The richest poetry cup prize money in South Australia offers $1650 to 10 slammers, with $1000 going to the overall winner. They also have their name engraved on the perpetual trophy.

Entry is free for poetry lovers, with a free open mic session held between the heats and the final for anyone who doesn’t want to compete but would like the opportunity to read for an audience.

This fantastic event offers lots of raffle prizes and is open to all ages, but may include some adult content.

It is organised by the Poetry on the Fleurieu group, which holds poetry readings from 1pm to 3pm on the second Sunday of every month in the Theatrette, Signal Point Gallery, Laurie Lane, in Goolwa. It costs $5 to read and is free to listen with raffles for book prizes.
