The Middleton Town and Foreshore Association will hold a traditional smoking ceremony to kick off a very special sculpture project tomorrow, Tuesday 28 March.

It will be performed by local First Nations artist Cedric Varcoe at Seaview Avenue.

Cedric will welcome a fallen redgum tree to Middleton, where artist Silvio Apponyi will shape it into a sculpture of a Southern Right Whale and her calf.

Footing for the sculpture has been laid and the tree is being transported by semi-trailer from Naracoorte today.

The community is welcome to attend the ceremony at 9.15am for a 9.30am start.
