Softball is back in 2024

Hills Softball Association ‘A’ Grade - Strathalbyn v Redsox


In the first game back for the second half of the season, Redsox started the batting and had safe hits to Chloe Zakelj, Emily Mohan-Ram and Kylie Gray which all helped to bring in five runs with Strath’s second baser Buttsy Milne fielding and throwing to first baser Peyton Daniels for an out, third baser Gab Martin also making an out at first and short stop Kathy Pash repeating the out at first. Strath’s first turn at bat produced hits to Pash and Daniels and a walk to Bianca Pash, but they were unable to put any runs on the board with Redsox taking two catches in the outfield and a K2 to pitcher/catcher Claire Mohan-Ram and Alex Mackay.


Strath were able to hold Redsox scoreless in their second turn at bat with two K2’s to the pitcher/catcher combo of Daniels to B.Pash and another out made by Martin again throwing to first baser Tess Norris for the third out.  Strath’s Rebekah Mayes had a safe hit to the outfield but she was left stranded on base with Redsox making another K2, an out at first and a catch taken at right field by Stephanie Cross to end the innings holding Strath scoreless.


Strath’s pitcher/catcher combo of Daniels to B.Pash were working well together and produced three K2’s to hold Redsox scoreless and retire the side. Strath’s K.Pash gained a walk in the third dig, stole to second and was brought home by a hit to the outfield by B.Pash which was followed by a pick off at second and catches to right fielder Cross and left fielder McKenzie Ween holding Strath to just one run.


Redsox had a safe hit to the outfield by Cherie Bamford and a safe bunt to Zakelj who both stole bases and made it home to add two runs to the tally with Strath making another out at first, a running catch taken at left field by Tash Mayes and a catch taken at shortstop by K.Pash to end the innings. Strath needed to make runs and even with safe hits to the outfield by Norris, T. and R. Mayes they were left on base with Redsox making an out at first, a pick off at second and a catch taken at second by E. Mohan-Ram to end the innings and the game. Redsox coming out on top with 7 runs to 1.
