Alexandrina Council is asking its south coast residents which areas they think are suitable for more housing development.
It is preparing a Goolwa Growth Concept Plan to guide future growth in and around Goolwa including Middleton, Port Elliot and Hindmarsh Island.
The draft plan aims to help the council make informed decisions about proponent-led Code Amendments affecting the township.
It will also take into account the state government’s Greater Adelaide Regional Plan growth targets and other strategic planning decisions in the region.
The council says with housing availability and affordability issues across Australia and within Alexandrina, there is significant pressure to identify areas for additional housing in and around the township of Goolwa.
Some potential options include growth between the towns of Goolwa and Middleton and shared growth across Goolwa, Middleton, Port Elliot and Hindmarsh Island.
Visit the Alexandrina My Say website to see the concept plan and provide feedback.mysay.alexandrina.sa.gov.au/goolwa-growth-concept-plan
Hard copy surveys and a visual display showcasing the options are also available to view during office hours at the Goolwa Library.
Consultation closes at 5pm Friday 1 December.
