South coast pipi ban imposed

The Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) has announced a Goolwa Pipi Closure.

Effective immediately from 12 January 2023, Goolwa Beach has closed to recreational fishing of bivalve molluscs, including Pipi (Goolwa Cockle), until further notice.

The ban is in place following the detection of E.coli in Pipis in levels above what is safe for human consumption.

The public cannot collect any Pipi or other bivalves molluscs from this area until further notice.

The closure includes the entire Goolwa Beach from the Murray Mouth to Middleton Point near Mill Terrace at Middleton.
