The Southern Communities Transport Scheme (SCOTS) is a community passenger network that provides door-to-door pre-booked transport for people who need help to get around.
It is calling out for more volunteers to assist with driving and organising trips, both locally and to the Adelaide area.
Transport can be for medical appointments, attending social activities or groups, shopping, or visiting family and friends.
Volunteer drivers gain a Volunteer Driving Accreditation and support people, young and old, with transport opportunities.
They must hold a valid driver’s licence and be good drivers, with a few spare hours in their week and should hold values of empathy and community care.
SCOTS provides modern, air conditioned vehicles as well as training for all volunteers. For more information about the service visit the City of Victor Harbor website or contact the SCOTS office on 8551 0500 or via email.
SCOTS is an initiative of the City of Victor Harbor and Alexandrina Council with funding from the federal Department of Health and Aged Care, and the state government Department of Human Services.
