Mayo MP Rebekha Sharkie has called on future leaders in the electorate to put their hands up for the national My First Speech Competition.

The competition is for high school students in years 10, 11 and 12 to have their say to the House of Representatives.

“Imagine yourself as the newly elected Member for Mayo and film a 90 second first speech highlighting the issues important to you and to our electorate,” Ms Sharkie says. 

“The top three entries will be given the opportunity to fly to Canberra with a parent or guardian to present their speeches live at Parliament House.”

The competition is open to schools and individuals; entries close at 4.30pm on 31 August.

Ms Sharkie says she looks forward to seeing some young Mayo stars in Parliament soon.
