The latest round of the Community Recreation and Sport Facilities Program investments have been decided, with 41 projects set to receive a boost from the state government.
More than $5.5 million in funding has been allocated to support the upgrade and development of sporting clubs and active recreation facilities.
Less than $70,000 of that sum was allocated to the Fleurieu and Kangaroo Island, with two sports clubs successful.
Langhorne Creek Cricket Club will receive $20,000 to construct a three-pitch cricket net practice facility at Langhorne Creek Memorial Park, while Parndana Sports Club will get $47,700 to resurface three multi-use courts.
Successful applicants have collectively secured more than $8 million in co-funding, contributing to a total project value of more than $13.5 million, which will support 55 full-time jobs during construction across South Australia.
Funding for individual projects range from $9,000 for the installation of 500 lux LED lights for Gymnastics SA at Marion Leisure and Fitness Centre to the maximum amount of $500,000 for the Mypolonga Combined Sports Club to construct two unisex changerooms, umpire changerooms, netball amenities, timekeepers’ box, solar panels and a canteen.
Clubs across the state will benefit from this investment with $2.7 million allocated to 15 metropolitan projects, $1.5 million to 13 regional projects and $1.2 million going towards 13 projects in the greater metropolitan area.
Of the 41 approved projects, 23 requested less than $50,000 and 18 requested between $50,000 and $500,000.
The full list of approved grants can be viewed online.
Katrine Hildyard, Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing, says 15 applicants who missed out in the last round were successful in securing funding this year.
“This speaks to the enduring commitment and tireless efforts that generous volunteers put into improving their clubs for their communities.
“I encourage those who missed out to consider applying again in future rounds."
