Spotlight on the future of Granite Island

The Department for Environment and Water (DEW) is developing a visitor experience master plan for Granite Island Recreation Park, which will create a vision for sustainable nature-based tourism attractions and facilities on the Island.

With the upgrade of the Granite Island Causeway, the time is right to reimagine Granite Island and create meaningful opportunities and experiences for residents and a new generation of visitors while adhering to the Island’s conservation values.

DEW has organised a variety of community consultation exercises, including an information stall at the Victor Harbor Farmers Market in Grosvenor Gardens on Saturday 17 April from 8am to 12.30pm.

Anyone with an interest in Granite Island can also join a ranger walk of Granite Island Recreation Park on 17 April at either 1pm or 3pm. Bookings are essential via Eventbrite.

The walk will take around an hour and is suitable for all ages.

If you can’t get to the market or join the walk you can also share your comments at the Victor Harbor Library or the Victor Harbor Visitor Information Centre, or contribute to a discussion board on the YourSAy website up until 21 May.
