Spring events calendar boomsVictor Harbor Mayor Moira Jenkins has announced funding for four springtime events.

The City of Victor Harbor has agreed to sponsor four events under round two of its Festivals & Events Sponsorship program.


The four events are planned for September and October, which will make for a busy spring as planning has begun for this year’s Rock’n’Roll Festival, also scheduled for September. 


Mayor Moira Jenkins announced the sponsorships on Facebook following the decision at the council meeting on 27 April.


The chosen four events are the Heyson 100 Ultra Marathon; the Fleurieu Fake Film Festival; the SA Viking Festival; and the Bengali Festival.


The Festivals & Events Sponsorship program aims to foster a vibrant festival and event culture that delivers economic, social and promotional outcomes for its community.


It provides provide financial and in-kind support to eligible groups and organisations to help stage events and festivals.


A total funding pool of $45,000 was allocated in the 2020/21 budget, with the council providing sponsorship of $28,642 in the first round.

 

Round two applications closed 15 March. Details of the four events will be announced in coming months.
