Three community events will commemorate the wreck of the Star of Greece at Port Willunga in 1888, over this weekend, 15 and 16 July. 


Aldinga library will host the first event, a free talk by Paul Simpson at 10.30am on Saturday 15 July, followed by a film screening.


Paul is the author of Star of Greece: For Profit or Glory and the film shown will be In Perilous Seas: A vigil for the Star of Greece wrecked at Port Willunga in 1888.

Bookings are required via Eventbrite.

 

Volunteers from the Willunga National Trust will lead a heritage walk at Port Willunga on Sunday 16 July.


Walkers will meet at the Star of Greece Car Park at 9.45am for a 10am start.


This is also a free event but numbers are limited so book via Trybooking.


A new illustrated talk by historian, archaeologist and Willunga National Trust volunteer Mark Staniforth will be held at Waverley Park Homestead at 4.30pm on Sunday 16 July.


Titled Star of Greece: history, art and material culture, the admission fee of $5 includes one beverage. Book via Trybooking.
