South Australian borders to close 4pm Tuesday.
SA authorities have announced a "major emergency" which will see the state close its borders at 4pm on Tuesday.
In a press release an hour ago, Premier Steven Marshall announced the closure of our borders. Around the world and across the country there are community transmissions of COVID-19. This measure is to slow the spread of coronavirus in our state.
In his press conference Premier Marshall said, “Our goal is to slow the spread of the coronavirus. There is no evidence of community transmission in South Australia, but this is now wide spread around the rest of the world and in fact around the rest of the country. This is why we make the decision to close our borders by 4pm Tuesday.”
“We are trying to massively reduce the peak of the coronavirus impact and push it out into the future as far as possible. That gives us the maximum amount of time to ensure our critical health capacity is in place to meet and exceed that demand.”
SAPOL will man the initial 12 state border stations.
