Cockle Train services were curtailed over the weekend for safety reasons, with trains running only between Goolwa and Port Elliot.

SteamRanger, which runs the popular tourist attraction, advised that recent wet weather has caused destabilisation of the dunes and hillside around Hayborough.

This has resulted in a land slip above the railway track that is threatening the rail corridor between Port Elliot and Victor Harbor.

With more rain forecast there was the risk of a second landslip, so it was not safe for passengers and crew to run the service to Victor Harbor.

SteamRanger says it is working with relevant stakeholders to stabilise the site.
