Stingrays 'A' grade pull off amazing victory over Port Adelaide

The Southern Districts ‘A’ grade has pulled off a remarkable victory as they chased down an improbable Port Adelaide target on day two of round 12 action in the SACA Premier Cricket competition at Port Adelaide Reserve. Set an unlikely 344 for victory, the Stingrays achieved their target from 81 overs with six wickets in hand. The victory was set up by a fantastic 204-run second wicket stand between Josh Barrett and Brendan McCormack. Barrett batted throughout the innings to score a wonderful 182 not out from 237 balls (15 x 4’s, 8 x 6’s), while McCormack played a good support role with 71 (142 balls). Nick Bowen (53) also played a valuable role at the top of the order.

In other games the Stingrays second and third grade sides both lost but it was better news for the fourth grade as they defeated Port Adelaide at Adelaide High School by 97 runs with a standout all-round performance from skipper Ben Long who made 125 and took 5/43.
