Southern District Women’s first grade had a 16-run win over Northern Districts to stay undefeated after four rounds of the SACA Women’s T20 competition. On Sunday the Stingrays travelled to Salisbury Oval to take on Northern Districts and the visitors posted a competitive score of 7/116 from their 20 overs. There were several handy contributors for the Stingrays with Ella Wilson (23), Amy Peterson (21), Kelly Armstrong (13) and Jess O’Reilly (13) leading the way. In the run chase only Katie Rowe got going for Northern Districts as she scored 25. The Stingrays bowled a whopping 37 wides to keep the hosts in the game but ultimately the Jets finished on 9/100 from their 20 overs. Five Stingrays bowlers took wickets with Peterson continuing her fine day taking 3/9 (4) while Ella Wilson snared 2/5 (2).

The second grade won their second game in succession following a tight 10-run victory over Adelaide University at Park 12 (No. 1). The Stingrays batted first and struggled their way to a total of 91 before being bowled out in the 19th over. Donna Clark (29 from 29 balls) and Cassidy Perkins (25 from 36 balls) put on the best partnership of the innings which was worth 33 runs for the second wicket. Brienna Medder added a handy 16 not out from 15 balls at the end of the innings. Rachel Banham (4/12) and Merrilyn Pfeiffer (3/9) did the damage with the ball for Uni. Adelaide University started their run chase well to reach 1/68 before a run out to Perkins and two wickets to Clark, on her way to figures of 2/9 from three overs, reduced the hosts to 5/81 at the end of their 20 overs.                                                                                                                

Next Sunday there’s a big double header at Bice Oval with the first grade taking on Kensington (10.30am) while the second grade face West Torrens (1.40pm).
