Stingrays second grade stay undefeated in SACA Premier Cricket

Southern Districts Womens teams had mixed results after round two of their 2019/20 SACA Premier Cricket T20 campaigns on Sunday.

The first grade were at home to a strong Kensington outfit with the visitors batting first and posting 6/117 from their 20 overs, led by Strikers and Scorpions star Bridget Patterson who made 31 off just 32 balls. She was ably supported by Shae Daly (23) and skipper Sarah Lowe (21). Callie Wilson (2/19) and Gemma Kennedy (2/24) were the chief wicket takers for the Stingrays. The Stingrays run chase never got going with only Kelly Armstrong (15) resisting a tight Kensington attack. Southern Districts eventually finished up 9/45 from their 20 overs to go down by 72 runs. Lowe bowled a great spell to finish with 3/8 (3) and she was well supported by Eliza Doddridge (2/4) and Daly (2/14).

The second grade made it two wins from as many starts by downing Glenelg at the bay by five wickets with eight balls to spare. The Stingrays won the toss and elected to field and did well to restrict the Seahorses to just 6/83 from their 20 overs. Febi Mansell with 2/9 and Kendall Howell with 2/13 both bowled excellent spells for Southern Districts. Nicole Adams (27) top scored for Glenelg. Narelle Maiolo started the run chase well for the Stingrays scoring 23 from 34 balls and Kendall Howell (19 not out) brought it home with eight balls left to give the Stingrays second grade a perfect record after two rounds.

Next week the first grade will play West Torrens at Col Waite Oval (Kensington) while the second grade host Sturt at Bice Oval.
