Stingrays through to Grand Final in the Great Southern Women's competition

Yankalilla/Encounter Bay Stingrays are through to the 2023 Grand Final after a 21-point win over McLaren Districts in the Great Southern Football League (GSFL) FPAG ‘A’ Grade Women’s Preliminary Final yesterday. The Stingrays, in their first season in the competition, finished fourth at the end of the minor round and have won two finals to reach the decider against Willunga this coming Sunday. Yesterday, the Stingrays won every quarter on the way to a 5.5 (32) to 1.5 (11) triumph. Kimberly Robinson kicked two goals for Yankalilla/Encounter Bay, while Ebony Woodward kicked the only goal for McLaren Districts. Best players for the Stingrays included Jaimi Griffen, Chloe Howlett, Georgia Weatherspoon, Kaye Sanders and Jemma Ellis. Ally Bailey, Emily Rowe, Kiahni Russell, Katie Whish and Sally Fuller were named best players for the Eagles.
