Stingrays Women undefeated after three rounds of SACA T-20 competition

Southern District Women’s first grade had a 15-run win over West Torrens to stay undefeated after three rounds of the SACA Women’s T20 competition. On Sunday the Stingrays hosted West Torrens at Bice Oval and posted a competitive score of 6/123 from their 20 overs. The innings was set up by a 38-run third wicket partnership between Ella Wilson and Sheridan Howell (17). Wilson continued on to top score with 32 from 32 balls. A handy undefeated 30-run seventh-wicket partnership between Hannah Armstrong (16 not out) and Amy Peterson (9 not out) lifted the Stingrays to their final total. West Torrens got off to a good start to reach 1/50 as Angela Treloar (39) was on fire for the Eagles. The home side fought back to take the next seven wickets for 55 runs with the West Torrens innings finishing at 8/108, 15 runs short. Five Stingrays bowlers took wickets with Gemma Kennedy snaring 3/23 (3) to put the reigning premier on top of the ladder.

The second grade were also at Bice Oval in the second game of the double header taking on Sturt. It was a game dominated by the bowlers with the home side coming out on top by 10 runs. Southern District batted first and were bowled out in just the 15th over for 56. Caitlin Seccafien did well to carry her bat for 18 not out (48 balls) while Annabelle Yelland added some support at the end of the innings with 11 (17 balls). The Stingrays needed quick wickets and that’s just what they got with Caitlin Perkins (2/2) getting the first two wickets to leave Sturt reeling at 2/1. The Blues could never get into the run chase as they finished on 7/46 from their 20 overs. Four Stingrays bowlers took wickets with Donna Clark (2/10) joining Perkins as a multiple wicket taker.
