Stolen ring still missing

Two people have been arrested after allegedly breaking into a unit at a Strathalbyn retirement village and stealing a safe containing jewellery.


Around Tuesday 10 November, offenders allegedly broke into a Strathalbyn retirement village whilst an elderly couple were interstate.  A number of items were stolen including a safe containing jewellery and a quantity of cash.

In the safe was a distinctive diamond ring valued at approximately $50K.  The ring is described as having 42 diamonds set on a platinum claw with a four tiered diamond shaped cluster (see picture).


After an investigation, on Friday 13 November, a 41-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, both from Munno Para were arrested at a Glenelg address and charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, theft and breach of bail.


The pair was refused police bail and appeared in court on Monday 16 November where they were remanded in custody.


Police have recovered some of the stolen jewellery however the distinctive ring is still outstanding.
