Alexandrina Council and the YMCA have announced that the Strathalbyn Swimming Pool will open next Friday 12 November.
The opening of the pool has been delayed as a result of water seepage from the pool area, which resulted in the collapse of a section of the Angas River embankment.
The council has identified the water source and is putting in place controls place to enable the pool to open.
Further works will take place over the coming months to secure and reinforce the river embankment.
The council does not envisage that this will cause any further disruption to the summer pool season.
As a result of the opening delay, the summer pool season will be extended by five weeks until 15 May 2022.
Alexandrina Council and the YMCA look forward to welcoming the swimming community back to their beautiful pool for the summer ahead.
