Swimmers in the Strathalbyn district face an uncertain summer with the Community Swimming Pool season opening delayed indefinitely.
The pool, operated by the YMCA, was due to open on Monday 11 October but will remain closed due to an underground water leak at the river end.
Alexandrina Council has been investigating erosion to the riverbank in Soldiers Memorial Gardens, between the pool and the River Angas, since mid-September.
The council says it is continuing investigations to identify the source of the water leak and is preparing to undertake work to secure the riverbank area.
“We are not able to provide an exact opening date at this time as the source of the water leak remains unknown.
“The opening date of the pool will be determined by what works need to be undertaken to repair underground services.”
