Strathalbyn and Macclesfield play out a thrilling draw in Hills Softball

Strathalbyn v Macclesfield (Hills Softball Association ‘C’ Grade)

Strathalbyn were up to bat first and had safe hits to Nicole Filsell and Laura Sneath, with walks to Rebecca Sims and Annabel McGregor which brought one run home with Macclesfield making an out at first, a K2 to  pitcher/catcher combo of Valerie Pederson to Zarlee Winitana, and an out made at second base. Macclesfield had their first turn at bat and had safe hits to Meagan Plummer-Bahr, Amy Wouters, Tania Nethercote and Sam Chapman, which pushed runners around and brought in four runs with Strathalbyn’s pitcher/catcher Sims to Heidi Samuel gaining a K2, a put out by Alecia Spinks at third and Sims fielding and throwing to Jackie Marsh at first to end the innings.

Strathalbyn’s second batting dig gained some walks from patient batting and safe hits to Sims and Marsh which moved runners around and got them home. Then with bases loaded a big hit to the outfield by Spinks, which forced errors, brought home four runs to bring the total runs for Strath’s innings to the maximum ten with Maccy making a tag out at shortstop and an out at first. ‘Maccy’ came in for their second turn at bat and had safe hits to multiple players. A two baser to Wouters and a home run to Sandra Lions, and with some great base running this helped bring home seven runs which tied up the game while Strathalbyn worked hard in the field making all three outs into the safe glove of Marsh at first base. Time and game were called with the scores level at 11-11 but a great game enjoyed by both sides.
