Strathalbyn consolidate top-two spot in Hills Softball

Hahndorf batted first and gained a couple of walks but the only safe hit to Mia Oats-Willis wasn’t enough to bring them home with a great pick off at third by catcher Kim Cutting to Peyton Daniels and two K2’s to pitcher Tess Norris. Strath started with a safe hit to Cutting and also some walks which brought home three runs with Hahndorf picking off the lead runner, an infield fly and an out at third.

Strath were able to hold Hahndorf scoreless again in the second even with Tilly Lovelock picking a walk with an out at first and another two K2’s. Strath’s second innings was also scoreless with short stop Breanna Luxon involved in all outs for three up three down.

Hahndorf got two runners home after a walk and a couple of errors in the field but Strath worked hard to shut them down with another K2, an out at first by short stop Georgia Tomkinson and a pick off of the lead runner at third. Strath gained a couple of walks and a hit to the outfield by Buttsy Milne brought a runner home but that hit was caught and the runner picked off for a double play with the final out another K2 for the game.

Strath had a small lead to protect and they did with new pitcher Daniels working well with Cutting for two K2’s and Milne finishing the innings playing her own base for three up three down holding Hahndorf scoreless again. The fourth innings for Strath was a good one with safe hits to Kathy Pash and Milne, a two baser to Norris and a home run to Cutting combined with some walks and great base running they finished the game by bringing home seven runs. Strathalbyn 11 defeated Hahndorf 2.
