Hills Softball Association ‘A’ Grade Women (Strathalbyn v Hills Heat Masters)
Strathalbyn were up to bat but Masters short stop Kerry Wilkinson got the first batter out with Strath then following up with a two baser to Bianca Pash before a K2 to Masters pitcher/catcher combo of Kel O’Brien to Sharon Perkins and runners interference sent them from the diamond scoreless. Masters had safe hits to Michelle Davis, Perkins and Lauren Christensen which brought Davis home with Strath making a tag out at first by Peyton Daniels, another out at first and a relay tag out at home by centre fielder Emily Eglitis to short stop Kim Cutting to catcher Pash to hold them to one run.
The second turn at bat for Strath was three up three down with Masters second baser Lisa Wilson making an out at first and taking a catch and pitcher O’Brien also taking a catch to end the innings. It was the same three up three down for Masters in their second dig with Strath’s pitcher Tess Norris working well with Pash for two K2’s and Daniels taking a catch at first holding them scoreless.
Strath started to get some results with the bat in the third with a safe hit to Cutting and a home run to Daniels bringing them both home to get Strath on the board with two runs and Masters making all three outs at first. Strath were working hard in the field with two outs at first and a line drive catch to Norris which held Masters scoreless again.
The fourth dig for Strath had a safe hit to Kathryn “Buttsy” Milne and she was brought home by a great hit to the outfield by Ashlee Peterson with Masters making another two outs at first and right fielder Jane Wreghitt taking a catch to end the innings. Three up three down again for Masters with Strath’s third baser Kathy Pash making an out at first base and both Milne and Daniels taking catches.
Strath got the bat working well in the fifth with multiple safe hits and three basers to Cutting and Daniels which all helped to bring in nine runs with Masters catcher Perkins, second baser Wilson and left fielder Kylie Barrington all taking catches. Strath needed to stay tight in the field to protect their lead and they did, allowing only one run in before another catch to Milne, a catch to Cutting and an out at first ended the innings and the game. Strath came out on top with 12 runs to 2.
