Hills Softball Association Under 14 Mixed (Strathalbyn v Hahndorf)
With only seven players Strathalbyn went into bat with intent and with some great pitch choices walks were gained with Lincoln Strange getting a safe hit to get on to base. Some fantastic base running and steals home to Byron Strange, Lincoln, Scarlett Finn and Xander Ide all helped to bring in the full seven runs with Hahndorf’s catcher William Faber-Paul fielding a ball that had got past him and throwing to pitcher Rohan Martin for the only out of the innings at home. Hahndorf were picky with their pitches too and even with Strath’s pitcher Ashton Ide doing well with some strikes they also gained walks and had great base running to bring home seven runs with Strath unable to make any outs for the innings.
The second turn at bat for Strath produced some more walks with Tayah Thornton making it around the bases and stealing home with Hahndorf’s new pitcher/catcher combo of Kaiden Martin to Hayden Bunn working well for three K2’s to end the innings allowing Strath to only add two runs. Strath’s new pitcher Tallera Spinks did a great job and pitched quite a few strikes but Hahndorf were too good with their batting getting some safe hits and walks to bring home another seven runs but not before Spinks took a catch and Xander fielded at second and threw to Ashton at first for the second out. Hahndorf came away the winners with 14 runs to 9 but some great plays were made, some good fielding and progress shown by our pitching and catching players. Well done Panthers all of your skills and understanding of the game are definitely improving through the season.
