Strathalbyn Softball (Senior Women) review

Strathalbyn v Hahndorf (Hills Softball Association ‘A’ Grade)

In their first game back after the break, the ‘A’ grade Women found themselves playing on a Saturday and were up to bat first. Hahndorf’s fielders were on top of things right from the start with pitcher Tahlia Larosa starting the game with a K2, short stop Megan Williams taking a catch and second baser Breanna Luxon fielding and throwing to first baser Nic Zobel for the third out to hold Strathalbyn scoreless. Hahndorf came in to bat and had hits to Zobel, Larosa and a two-baser to Peyton Daniels which helped bring in three runs with Strath’s left fielder Ashlee Peterson, centre fielder Rebekah Mayes and right fielder Emily Eglitis all taking catches to end the innings.

Strath came in for their second turn at bat and had safe hits to Tessa Norris and Ashlee Peterson but they could not get around and get home with Hahndorf’s Larosa pitching well for two K2’s and centre fielder Michelle Davis taking a catch to hold them scoreless again. Hahndorf had safe hits to Rylee Zobel, Chloe Davis, Daniels, M.Davis and Luxon with Williams getting a home run which all brought in a further seven runs. Strath continued to work hard in the field with a catch taken at shortstop by Jarrah Taylor and Norris fielding off of her pitching to make two outs at first.

Strath needed runs and even though Jordarna Wilks was patient and gained herself a walk she was left stranded on third base unable to convert with Hahndorf’s third baser Daniels making an out at first and Larosa taking a catch and then making the third out at first base. Strath were tight in the field during Hahndorf’s third turn at bat with a catch taken by Norris, another catch to Taylor and a K2 to end the innings holding them scoreless.

The fourth dig for Strath produced a safe hit to Norris and a walk to Peterson before Larosa closed the innings out with three K2’s to once again hold them scoreless. Handorf were up to bat again and had safe hits to Kiera Trevorrow, C.Davis, Williams and a home run for Daniels which helped bring in four runs with Strath’s first baser Kelly Roe taking a catch and Taylor making another out at first before time and game were called with Hahndorf 14 defeating Strathalbyn 0.

Strathalbyn v Redsox (Hills Softball Association ‘C’ Grade)

In their first game back after the Christmas break, Strathalbyn fielded first and held Redsox scoreless with pitcher Rebecca Sims fielding and throwing to Kelly Roe at first base for two outs and left fielder Annabel McGregor getting the ball in quickly to Jackie Marsh for the third out. Strath came in to bat and gained walks to Jess Rumble, Heidi Samuel and Marsh with safe hits to McGregor and Hannah Jones but they could only bring one runner home with Redsox making an out at third, an infield fly called and third baser Kerri Hardy making the out at first to end the innings.

The second batting dig for Redsox produced hits to Emma Thomson, Suvali Sharma, Elisa Heath, Sienna Golder and a three baser to Ash Hermsen to help bring in seven runs before Strath’s shortstop Rumble made the out at first, made a tag at second and Marsh fielded and threw to Roe at first for the third out to send them from the diamond. Strath were held scoreless in their second turn at bat with Redsox pitcher Hermsen fielding and throwing to first for two outs and second baser Mandy Bottroff also throwing to first to end the innings.

The third batting innings for Redsox had safe hits to Hardy, Bottroff, Heath, Sienna Golder, Glenys Megson and Alexis Golder with a two baser to Sharma and another three baser to Hermsen which all helped to bring in a further five runs with Strath working hard in the field with a K2, and short stop Dani O’Brien and Nicole Filsell combining for the last two outs at third base. Strath needed to gain some runs but again Redsox fielders were too strong with Hermsen doing a great job fielding and throwing to first for another two outs and second baser Bottroff taking a catch to end the innings and the game with Redsox 12 defeating Strathalbyn 1.
